Hundreds of Brown & Brown Teammates, Company Leaders, and Local Government Officials Attended Flag Raising Event to Commemorate New Campus, Which Will Bring More Than 600 New Jobs to Daytona Beach
Daytona Beach, Fla. – May 1, 2019 – Brown & Brown, Inc. (NYSE:BRO), a longtime leader in the insurance brokerage industry, celebrated the construction of their new Daytona Beach campus yesterday with a ceremonial flag raising event. The commemorative flag was signed by more than 1,000 Brown & Brown teammates to help mark this historic milestone for the organization. More than 400 teammates, leaders, and community stakeholders attended, including Powell and Hyatt Brown.
“Brown & Brown has a long-standing history in Daytona Beach, having been a part of this community for 80 years. As a forever company, it felt natural to make this city our forever home,” said Powell Brown, President and CEO of Brown & Brown, Inc. “The new campus will serve as the cultural center for Brown & Brown’s 9,500+ teammates, and represents our vision for continued growth, including creating 600 new jobs in Daytona Beach.”
The Bethune-Cookman University Marching Wildcats drumline kicked off the morning’s festivities, followed by brief addresses from both City of Daytona Beach Mayor, Derrick Henry, and Volusia County Chair, Ed Kelley, as well as remarks from Powell Brown. The symbolic raising of the flag atop a large construction crane positioned on the build site along Beach Street served as the backdrop to the event. Key leaders and members of the Board of Directors also took ceremonial shovels to dirt for a photo opportunity prior to the event.

Brown & Brown has contracted Barton Malow Company to manage construction of the 11-story, 225,346-square-foot structure, which will emphasize collaborative workspaces, natural light, and green spaces in its design. Multiple dedicated training rooms will allow for teammates from all 291+ locations to visit, learn more about Brown & Brown’s unique culture, and participate in professional development courses.
